TEAM SWMA
ADULT Jiu-Jitsu Program
At Southwest Martial Arts Academy, Our Adult Combat Jiu-Jitsu class is an ongoing program, open to both male and female students, 15 years old and above. The art of Combat Jiu-Jitsu is a style of self-defense that is highly effective regardless of age or gender.
Students enrolled in Combat Jiu-Jitsu classes
at S.W.M.A. will learn all of the techniques, principles and philosophies under which the art was founded. Combat Jiu-Jitsu blends techniques from multiple styles and systems, to form an extremely well-rounded and formidable Style of self-defense for its practitioners. Techniques and philosophies from other styles such as Judo, Sambo, Free style wrestling as well as other styles of Jiu-Jitsu, were incorporated to address the ground fighting elements of the art. The stand-up elements were influenced and developed primarily from techniques learned from other styles such as American Kickboxing, Karate, Muay Thai and Western Boxing.
The class offers a good cardio workout for its participants and all students are allowed to progress at their own individual pace. Most of all, Southwest Martial Arts offers a family type atmosphere, where students are able to train hard, yet have a fun time, while getting in shape and learning real martial arts.

Combat Jiu-Jitsu students are offered an opportunity to achieve Belt Rank in the art, as well as learning the importance of self-discipline, respect and honor, under Sensei Greg Ring, who holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt and serves as the schools Head Jiu-Jitsu Instructor and Coach.
Southwest Martial Arts is the only NAGA (North American Grappling Association) accredited Jiu-Jitsu school in this region of the state. NAGA is the largest competitive Jiu-Jitsu and Submission wrestling (NO-Gi) circuit in the United States and competitions are available to those students who enjoy testing their skills competitively. Participation in competitive events is always optional and is not a student requirement.

Adult Jiu-Jitsu students also will have access to attend our Monday evening class which focuses heavily on cardio and strength conditioning. This class is taught by Sensei James Heath and it utilizes modern drills and exercises associated with mixed martial arts training.
